vg vAt 07:51 on Friday morning the GFC and Bernville Co. 29, along with Mt. pleasant Tanker 30 were dispatched the report of a Tractor-Trailer on fire. The vehicle was reported to be parked on Palisades Dr., just west of southbound Rt. 183.
Company 29 was first on scene and found the big rig’s tractor engulfed in fire. Company 29 personnel immediately pulled an attack line to battle the blaze. Greenfields Co. 55 arrived at 07:56 and assisted Bernville with the attack. Crews had the fire under control by 08:08.
The tractor and its contents were a total loss, including all the possessions of the occupants. The trailer and its contents were not damaged.
The rig was removed from the scene by V&M Towing.
Palisades Dr. was closed between Rt. 183 and County Rd. during the incident. Palisades Dr. was opened to traffic around 09:00
The driver, his life partner, and their dog were not injured. They were transported to the Bern Township Police Station and later to V&M Towing where they were met by the Red Cross who supplied them with vouchers for food, lodging and clothing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
