The house at the intersection of Bernville Road and Aviation Road was purchased by the Berks County Industrial Development Authority. It is scheduled to be demolished to make way for road construction to create better access to the future industrial park that is to be built at the Reading Regional Airport. Since the house is scheduled for demolition, The Berks County Industrial Development Authority has given the GFC access to the dwelling for use as a training facility.
Throughout the month of September the GFC, under the direction of Training Officer Capt. Joe Stoudt, has been using the house for firefighting training. The house has afforded the GFC a realistic environment in which to practice such scenarios as search and rescue, overhaul, hydraulic ventilation, and forced entry, to name a few.
The GFC wishes to thank the Berks County Industrial Development Authority for allowing us to use the house. It has provided our firefighters with an opportunity to experience real world firefighting situations.
