On Saturday evening, May 5, at 23:12, Station 55 was dispatched to the report of an MVA with injuries at the intersection of Rt. 183 an West Leesport Rd. Engine 55 responded with a crew of 2.
Upon arrival, Engine 55 found that a Nissan Rogue traveling south on Rt. 183 had rear ended a Volkswagen Jetta. Both vehicles were out of traffic.
The passenger in the Volkswagen was complaining of neck pain. GFC crew members assisted Northern Berks Emergency Medical Service EMTs with patient extraction. The patient was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. There were no other injuries.
Bern Township Fire Police were on scene to provide traffic control while the GFC crew spread oil dry on the spilled fluids and V & M Towing removed the Nissan. The Volkswagen was drivable and left the scene under its own power.
The accident is under investigation by the Bern Township Police.
