On Thursday February 11@ 16:05 the GFC, along with West Reading Rescue 64 and Western Berks Ambulance received a dispatch to respond to a 2 vehicle MVA, with injuries. The accident occurred on northbound Rt. 183 between S. Tulpehocken R. and Woodward Dr.
When the GFC crew arrived they found there were not 2, but 4 vehicles were involved in a chain reaction accident: A Ford Explorer, a Toyota Pickup, A Toyota Sedan, and a BARTA Bus. All the vehicles were off the road and parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the Explorer complained of wrist pain but refused treatment or transport. There were no other injuries.
With the vehicles off the roadway and Western Berks Ambulance’s services not needed, the GFC crew assumed traffic control until Fire Police arrived. Once Fire Police were on scene the GFC crew cleaned the debris off the roadway and returned to the station.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Bern Township Police.
