On Monday, March 6th, at 09:02, the GFC received a dispatch activating the Zone #2 Tanker Task Force. All units were instructed to proceed to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Mosellum Springs Road in Perry Township and await instructions.
Upon arrival, Engine 55-1 was instructed by Command proceed to a residential farm pond on Stone Hill Rd. and set up a fill site. Once the fill site was in operation E55-1 drafted over 30,000 gallons of water to supply the tanker shuttle. Approximately 10 companies supplied tankers for the operation.
The fire had started in an attached storage shed of the residential structure, spread from there to an attached garage where it finally engulfed the main dwelling. Damage to the home was estimated to be in the range of $500,000.
Due to the extensive damage to the storage shed, the cause of the fire could not be determined. No one was home at the time the fire started, and its cause is being considered accidental.
Those responding for the GFC were:
Assistant Chief Terry Royce
FFs Dylan Heckman, Dylan Matz, Joe Stoudt, and Craig Huntsinger
