At 10:57 on Tuesday, April 12, Brush 55 was dispatched to the report of a brush fire on Palisades Dr.
When Brush 55 arrived on scene they were joined by personnel from Mt. Pleasant Co. 30. The brush and wooded area between the Plum Creek and Palisades Dr. was on fire, endangering an apiary located along the south side of the creek.
The fire crew, under the command of Capt. Joe Stoudt, pulled a forestry line and rakes from Brush 55 and began their attack. The fire was extinguished within about 15 minutes. It had consumed about 1500 sq. feet of grass and brush, and scorched several trees, but the apiary was untouched.
The cause of the fire was determined to have been a discarded lit cigarette.
