On Wednesday, October 12th at 13:15, the GFC received a dispatch for an MVA on Rt. 183 in the area of the Sheidy Boat Ramp.
Engine 55 arrived at the area of the boat ramp at 13:32, but there was no MVA visible on Rt. 183 in either direction. As E55 approached the entrance to the Sheidy Boat Ramp it became apparent by the cluster of emergency vehicles in the parking lot that the MVA was in the parking lot, and not on Rt. 183. E55 entered the boat ramp parking lot and found that a Chevrolet Monte Carlo had rolled down an embankment and was resting on its roof at the edge of the lake.
There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the incident. One occupant managed to self-extricate, appeared to be uninjured and refused transport by Western Berks Ambulance. The other occupant had to be removed from the vehicle by rescue personnel from Bernville Co. 29. That patient was then transported to a local area hospital by Schuylkill Valley EMS. That patient’s injuries were unspecified.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police.
Those responding for the GFC were:
Chief Brian Fisher
Assistant Chief Terry Royce
FFs Gary Rarick, Billy Pagan, Dylan Heckman, Dylan Noll.
