On Sunday, November 13th, at 12:12 GFC, Mt. Pleasant Co. 30, and Western Berks Ambulance responded to the report of a motorcycle accident, with injuries, at the intersection of Upper Van Reed and Reber’s Bridge Roads.
Engine 55 arrived on scene at 12:25 to find Western Berks Ambulance EMTs preparing one of the motorcycle riders for transport. The rider had been thrown from his bike when it struck the rear end of the motorcycle in front of him. The rider of the other motorcycle was not injured.
Chief Brian Fisher assisted Western Berks with the patient while other GFC crewmembers assisted Bern Township Police with traffic control.
The patient was transported to the Reading Hospital with a severe head injury, and was later reported to be in critical condition. The patient had not been wearing a helmet.
Crew members from GFC and Mt. Pleasant cleaned up the debris from the roadway. Normal traffic flow was resumed around 13:00.
